![]() Fisher House I Winter/Spring 2010 Newsletter
The generous contributions of our donors allowed our team to renovate Fisher House III, work on our gazebo, replace televisions, all linen, new laptops computers, Ice machines, and renovated the storage area. All this was done while ensuring maximum capacity for our needy guest. We continue to think of new and creative ways to improve the quality of life for our guest while remaining responsible stewards of valuable resources. of valuable resources. The most recent project completed was the new landscaping of Fisher House I and II, completed late in December. The project involved new stone walls, plants, stone walkways and other scenic additions for our guest enjoyment. In addition, the water sprinkler systems for all three Fisher Houses were kicked up a notch to allow coverage for the new landscaping. Our Fisher Houses Annual Charitable Gala and SilOur Fisher Houses held November 7, 2009 was a great success. Over 320 guest enjoyed music, entertainment, and a slide show illustrating our volunteers and donors in action. A special thanks to Jane Edwards, Lt Gen Anderson, Maj Gen Hickey, Jerry Hardy, Ramelle Glasscock, Trisha Gamboa, Julie Verschoyle, Andrea Menard, Leo Cutcliff and the entire Gala team. The expert team of volunteers from Security Service Federal Credit Union did an outstanding job ensuring guest checkout after the silent action. Of course, the Gala would not be possible without the great support of our sponsors and underwriters. Please take the time to review the key sponsors in the newsletter. On October 22, 2009, the Lackland Top Four conducted the Fourth Annual Fisher House Inc. Golf Tournament. This event involved over 120 supporters for the Fisher Houses and was a huge success thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and players. A special thanks to Julie Verschoyle and SMSgt Steel for organizing the most successful golf tournament to date. Honestly, our mission would not be possible without the generosity of our donors and volunteers. We continue to provide food for our guest, cleaning supplies, condiments, cleaning service, and daily necessities to accommodate 26 families. Our 999 volunteers have logged an astonishing 2,401 hours of work at the three Fisher Houses at Lackland Air Force Base. We are extremely grateful for each donor and volunteer who allow us to complete our vital mission of providing home-away-from home for military members and their families.
